A message from Louis the cat.
I first came to Weston Avenue Allotments (as I am told they are called) some eleven years ago now. I'd moved here to Leighton Buzzard from, I don't know where but since that first day, and an open kitchen door, the allotments have been my home.
My original owner has long since moved. He did try to get me in a cage to go with him but I didn't like my other so called 'house mate' a scraggy moggie called Jack and anyway,
Why would I want one owner when I can have as many as I want?
Why would I want a bowl of Whiskers when I can have as many bowls of juicy roast meats as I can eat?
Why would I want a warm cosy bed in one home
when I can have any number of warm beds in any number of sheds?
Why would I want a closed door when I have freedom to roam?
Three years ago I nearly died when a thorn got stuck in my foot and went septic.
My allotment buddies found and rescued me and took me to the vets. They saved my life.
You probably think I am fat and lazy but I am the fittest healthiest 10 year old you will ever see, all muscle and fur.
I earn my keep hunting, I keep the vermin away.
I give others pleasure by letting them look after me.
I comfort those who need it on days when human contact is not right for them.
I love it most when I can find a warm lap for a cuddle.
Louis
(Resident of Weston Avenue Allotments & Chief Mouser)
